Essay on The Nepali Common Folk

Common Nepali people are humble. They are the pride of the nation. They know her truly. They are used to sharing the spirit of unity in diversity. They are rich in the spirit and practice of humanity, so-operation and tolerance. They are fond of observing peace, justice and prosperity.

Common Nepali people are used to practicing unity and diversity as they are bound with the sacred spirit of fraternity although they belong to distinct social recognitions because Nepal is multi-lingual, multi-racial and multi-religious country.

Our societies consist of people speaking different language as their mother tongues. Some of them are Nepali, Rai, Limbu, Neware, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Sherpa, Gurung, Magar, Tamang etc. but these have enriched the tongues have not hindered the societies adversely. They have enriched the linguistic recognition of our societies. The people speaking one language are fond of respecting other languages and the people speaking them as well. We have seen that most of the Nepalese societies are bilingual where two languages are spoken as their mother tongues. The people speaking one language seem to be eager to learn the next in these societies.

Nepalese societies consist of different social groups of races such as Gurung, Magar, Rai, Sherpa, Newar, Tharu, Dhimal, Chhetri, Bramana and so on. The people belonging to different groups live together unitedly sharing their experiences, feelings, sorrows and happiness. Although they have their own social rituals and cultures, they respect others. We have seen that these people are completely humble and well-cultured.

Nepalese people follow different religions. Some of them are Hindus, Buddhists, Islam’s, Christians, etc. We have not seen any social conflicts between the people following different religions because they have already developed the spirit and practice of religious tolerance; they respect all the religions equally. The people following one religion in their societies are found in the holy places of the other religions as the devotees. They have already learnt that almighty is for all.

Common Nepali people are honest, dutiful, hard-working, humble, co-operative and kind-hearted. They do not want to take the advantage of weaknesses of others. They always complete their duties working hard. Hey always behave with other people  politely. They re ready to help the needy people in the society. They never involve in the criminal activities. Although they do not have skyscrapers, their spirit and humanity have tied up themselves together.

It is real that humble Nepali people are the pride of the nation; they know her truly. They are ready to sacrifice themselves to save the nation they are completely united by the spirit and practice of patriotism and fraternity.

Essay on My Hiking Experience

Hiking refers to the activity of going for long walks in the country for pleasure, knowledge and exercises. Last year, I went hiking with my friends. It was full of pleasure and knowledge. It provided us heavy physical as well as mental exercises. Since then, I have felt that hiking is really beneficial for us.

Nepal is rich in natural beauties and gifts. We can have tremendous benefits if we go hiking and observe these natural entities. Last year summer vacation was heavily advantageous for us. As we wanted to go hiking, at firs, we decided the places where to go. We decided that we were going to visit different places in Solukhumbu district, the famous region consisting of snow-capped mountain peaks including Mt. Everest.

We made a complete plan for our hike. We formed the hiking group consisting of ten members including a medical staff, an M.B.B.S. doctor. He was very eager to go with us. Then, we visited the tourism board of Nepal to collect the information of the location. We decided to go to Ziri in Dolakha by bus and from there trekking would begin. We made a complete map of the route from Ziri to different places. Then, we bought some equipment and thing required in the hike. Some of the things we bought and managed were extra clothing, firs-aid-kits with some medicines, carbohydrate snakes, sunglasses, a map of the route, a compass, carbohydrate snakes, sunglasses, a map of the route, a compass, flash lights, extra batteries, matches, knives, brimmed hats, woolen socks, jackets, some utensils required to prepare food, alight gas-stove, etc.

We hired a microbus to go to Ziri. Our journey from kathmandu began at 7 a.m early in the morning. At 2 p.m, we reached at Ziri. We sheltered at a hotel that night. Next morning, we enjouyed tea at the hotel and started to trek to our destination. As we left Ziri, we realized that God had given us many things there. The trekking route was full of natural beauties and gifts such as many water falls, rivers, various types of plants, birds and animals, and so on. We walked very slowly enjoying whatever we saw on the way. We took many photographs of those thins. We could see the beautiful snow-capped mountain peaks to the north.

After three-hour walk, we wanted to have something as we felt hungry. We chose a grassland and set our tents. Then, we set a fire near the tents and started to preparer meal. Our friends Sanjay felt dizzy and wanted to sleep. Our doctor checked him up and provided some carbohydrate snacks and medicines. After an hour, he felt fine. We didn’t light our gas stove as we saw adequate firewood there. Some of our friends started singing and dancing. Rajib played the guitar well I heard while I was preparing meal. As our meal was ready, we had it. We felt the meal was tastiest. After two hours, me moved ahead towares Salleri, the district headquarters of Solukhumbu. We visited different places such as Salleri, Phaplu, Junbesi, Gokyo, Dudhapokhari and Chaurikharka (Lukla).

We felt that our hiking to solukhumbu region was really fruitful. We have widened and depended our knowledge and experiences. I had never thought before that Solukhumbu was so beautiful. Heartily speaking it is a piece of heaven.
I have realized that a Nepali citizen has to visit Solikhumbu once in order to illuminate his/her heart.

Essay on Mass Media in Modern Nepal

This century is the era of information and technology. ‘mass media’ can be defined as the organized means of communication that recorded and transmit information, messages, etc. rapidly to large, diversified and geographically scattered audiences simultaneously. Common mass media are newspapers, magazines, radios and televisions. These media have been serving the people and the nation significantly in Nepal.

Mass media in Nepal can be categorized into two types: print media and electronic. Books, newspapers, magazines brochures, prospectuses, pamphlets, posters, banners, etc. are print media. Among them, the first three are more important than others. Similarly, radios, televisions, the Interest are common electronic media substantially functioning in Nepal. In modern Nepal, the newspaper, the radio, the television and the Internet have been widely used.

Mass media have been playing a vital role to gear up the pace of modern development and to accelerate the speed of well-cultured and aptly civilized human society. They both directly and indirectly educate the people and ultimately promote public awareness that significantly enhances socio-economic and socio-cultural aspects of the society. Some of the mass media provide entertainment to the people. They also play the role of the agents of advertisement that is significant to enhance economic status of the country. Through the process of cultural transmission, they contribute to expanded and well-cultured socialization. To some extent, mass media have supported the nation to assuage the problem of unemployment.

One of the major functions of mass media is to provide the information and education belonging to multiple areas of human activities to the people. The information of the events, programs, national policies, national and international affairs, disasters and so on is broadcast or published through mass media. The information about current issues are very important for the people to choose the proper way to adjust in the days to come. Information is mainly conveyed to the people in terms of news, reporting, interviews, editorials and so on. Similarly, the news on the radio and the television provides fresh information on the current issues to the people. The pieces of information are usually based on the factual events/phenomena. Mass media play the role of effective means of informal education. Mass media such as newspapers, magazines, radios, televisions, etc. provide education to the people through various programs, writings and so on. The writings on a balanced diet, health education, physical exercise, etc. service a number of educative functions. They definitely promote public awareness educating the people. They also contribute to the transmission of knowledge. Mass media function as the tools of mass communication. Heterogeneous audiences are communicated together by various tools of mass media.

In addition to information, education and communication, different mass media provide entertainment to the people. For instance, the film primarily aims at providing entertainment to the people through action, songs, dances, music, satires and so on. Similarly, most of the means of mass communication provision some sections for entertainment. The newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, and film candidly publish or broadcast or telecast the programs in order to provide entertainment to the audiences.

Furthermore, most of the means of mass communication are interrelated to advertisement. Mass media also aim at advertising some sorts of product, services, opportunities, and so on. We can see many advertisements in newspapers and magazines. Similarly, many commercial advertisements are broadcast or telecast from the broadcast media. The consumers, on the other hand, are informed about the products and services available in the market; and ultimately they can fulfill their needs or demands.

Mass media function as the tools to maintain linkage, transmit the culture, warn the people and raise public voice. They are the connectors that maintain linkage between the different elements of the society. For instance, mass media establish the relation between the produces and consumers. Mass media function in bringing cultural transmission as the audience are influenced when they watch or enjoy the cultural phenomena on radio, TV or newspapers. Different mass media  warn the people about the possible dangers from epidemics, natural disasters, war and so on. People can get the information on time and apply suitable preventive measures and precautions. Different mass media publish, broadcast and telecast the public voice that may play the role of feedback to the government and non-government organizations. They can modify their polices to boost up their organizations according to voice of the people. They also play the role of the watchdog.

Despite significant roles of mass media in modern Nepal, they have some weakness which are to be removed in the days to come. Some of the media have not followed the ethics of journalism; they are not fair. For instance, they are fond to be supporting particular political parties and principles. They cannot transmit the news which own ABC (Accuracy Balance and Credibility) properties. Common people are likely to be misinformed by these media. These media are expected to obey the norms and values of sound journalism in Nepal.

Mass median in modern Nepal have contributed to the enhancement of the nation in spite of few weakness in practice.

Essay on Dowry System

We live in our society. It is made up of different castes and sub-castes.
There are different traditions and cultures. Some of the traditions are good, but not all of them. Dowry system is one of the social evils which is in practice till now. Dowry is the property or money given to the bride to take her husband’s house when she gets married. This evil system is especially practiced in the Terai of our country.

Nowadays, dowry is a major factor when someone gets married. The bridegroom’s family proposes the amount of dowry. And if the bride’s family agrees it, the marriage program is organized. But the dowry should be given on the day of marriage ceremony. The bridegroom can deny the marriage if he does not get decided dowry. It is the worst aspect of this system.

Bride’s parents want their daughter to have a prosperous life. They want to support her economically. They certainly love their daughter. But in dowry system, the money and other things are not given to her for her happiness; rather they are given to make the bridegroom agree to get married to her. Nowadays, the bridegrooms demand more property from the bride’s family. Thus, this social evil has commercialized marriage contract and conjugal life.

This system is certainly disadvantageous. Firstly, the relation between brides and bridegrooms cannot be sound. The bridegrooms treat the brides badly if they think the given dowry is not enough. We can see and hear many crimes connected to the issues of dowry. Some brides are badly beaten by their husbands. They urge their wives to bring additional property. Unfortunately, the struggle between the bride and bridegroom destroys their entire life. Many newly married women are compelled to abandon their husband’s house. This system often invites fatal disasters in the conjugal life. Some of the newly married women are compelled to abandon their husbands house. This system often invites fatal disasters in the conjugal life. Some of the newly married women are murdered by their husbands as the result of dowry system. What a savage brutality!

Nowadays, this system has been developed as the source of earning property for unmarried males. Many good girls cannot get good husbands if their parents are not well off. The bride’s families feel that they have bought the boys for their daughters. The boys are treated as the goods of the market. Newly married spouses cannot be reapportioned with each other. Therefore this system should be either eradicated or reformed.

I think that this system should be banned by law. All the educated girls and boys should discourage and avoid this system when they get married. The parents of the girls should educate their daughters properly., if the girls are educated, they can find good husbands themselves. At any cost, this system should be wiped our for a well-cultured and civilized society.

Essay on Child Rights in Nepal.

Human beings want to enjoy freedom, justice and peace. Children naturally want to enjoy rights. They are ignorant and deserve our love. Children are supposed to enjoy some rights. They are right to shelter, right to food, right to health care, right to education, right to expression, right to games and so on. Child rights are very important to enhance human dignity and prosperity.

In Nepal, the condition of children is not uniform. There are many children who cannot go to school. Some of them are the children of the poor parents. Their parents compel them to go to work. Because of poverty, they cannot have a balanced diet and are not properly cared. Orphans and street children are in a miserable condition. They cannot get even simple food to live on. Most of them beg walking door to door. We can see many boys sleeping on the pavements of the roadsides or the temples and other public places. Their condition is worse than a dog. Some poor children are kept by the rich as their servants. Some children seem to be working as the house boys and girls in the cities. Some of the children are working at hotels and factories. They are not enjoying their rights. But most of the children go to school for their education. They are not in a miserable condition. They are normally enjoying their rights and freedom. Thus prevailing disparity hinders child rights in Nepal.

Nowadays, many NGO’s have been supporting the children in many ways. Some of the major NGO’s are CWIN, SOS, STC, UNDP, UNICEF etc. They especially support the children who are orphans, street children, uncared, unloved and unclaimed. The organizations support them by providing education, health care, balanced diet, even shelter and clothes. Some of the schools have been established for them. Some of the children who seem to be collecting cans, bottles, plastics, etc. are also helped. They are given technical education like tailoring, carpentry, paper work, etc. Thus these NGO’s are supporting the children to maintain a normal life.

In order to promote child rights in Nepal, all he sectors concerned should pay their complete attention. Firstly, the children should be provided basic needs such as food, shelter, clothes, etc. education should be made compulsory for all the children. The discrimination between sons and daughters should be avoided. The parents who are uneducated think that education is necessary only for boys, but not for girls. They don not want to send their daughters to schools. Those parents should be convinced. All the street children, orphans, uncared and unwanted ones should be fed, cared and educated. Then automatically the condition of child rights gets enhanced.

The government should completely ban child labor at hotels and factories. At least, primary education should be made compulsory for all the children. Every adult should be responsible for promoting child rights in Nepal. All the legal provisions to stop child labor and to promote human rights should be implemented in practice.

Essay on Adult Education.

‘Education for all’ proves to be a slogan and an aphorism. A person who is over twenty years of age is normally called an adult. The special education for the adult is known as adult education. In order to reduce the number of illiterate adults, it is implemented in most of the countries.

There prevails a great difference between the education for children and the education for adults. Children learn formal education but adult education is informal. The education of children is given for their higher studies. But adult education is limited. Adults learn reading, writing and practical mathematics. Adult education normally makes the illiterate adults literate.

Illiterate adults are taught how to read and write. The basic skill and knowledge of language and mathematics are given to adults. The government of Nepal has implemented adult education all over the country. Illiterate adults are informed to go to adult education centers which are opened at the center of the villages. Adult literacy classes are run in the morning or in the evening. The adults who are learning adult education are not treated like school children; they are especially treated by the teachers.

The main aim of adult education is to make the illiterate people literate. Literacy is the basic need for all the people. The adults who are people have to face with many problems. Even they cannot read their personal letters. They are easily cheated by the catty people. They cannot understand their duties and rights as the citizens. Therefore they should be taught their duties and rights. Adult education is based on the opinion that nobody can have a happy and prosperous life unless he/she is educated. It is expected that after the completion of adult education, they can read simple books, letters, newspapers, magazines and solve simple applied problems of mathematics.

Adult education is basically necessary for the illiterate adults. It is especially necessary in developing countries like Nepal, Bhutan and so on. All the illiterate adults should be encouraged to learn adult education. It is necessary for the upliftment of the country as well.

Essay on The Forest of Nepal.

Nepal is rich in natural beauties, gifts, resources and wonders. The forest is one of these resources. Nepal is also a mountainous country. Most of the mountains are covered with green forests. It is the living place of animals and birds. Nowadays, it is fast being destroyed but it was completely safe in the past.

People clear the forest for various purposes. One of the most important causes of its destruction is rapid population growth. The growing population is compelled to clear the jungle for agriculture and settlement. People cut down the trees for firewood, building materials and furniture. The cattle glaziers take their domestic animals to the jungle to graze. These domestic animals eat up the newly growing plants. By the result, the new plants cannot grow up easily. The silly people set a fire in the jungle. By the result, the wild fire destroys the whole jungle very badly. The main cause of its destruction is poor public awareness. The people who are not aptly conscious and responsible cannot understand the importance and necessity of the forests.

Forest destruction invites many disasters. Some to them are drought, landslides, soil erosion, over floods, salutation of rivers and lakes, weather extremes, pollution, green-house effect, ozone layer depletion and desertification. The natural disasters as such are extremely destructive for all the living creatures. If the process of destruction of the forest is not controlled, the future will be extremely risky.
We can get many advantages from the jungle. We can preserve wild animals in the jungle. We can get firewood, timber, herbs, grass, etc, from the jungle. It helps us to purify the atmosphere and to reduce the gravity of air pollution. Underground water resources can be saved in the forest. It also helps us to balance eco-system. The problems of drought, weather extremes, landslides, etc. can be alleviated or stopped by the help of the forest. Similarly, the forest of our country attracts many tourists. We can earn foreign currency from them. The natural beauty cannot be preserved without the preservation of the forest.

Preservation of the forest proves to be crucial. In order to control the natural disasters, we have to preserve the jungle. We can preserve the forest in many ways. Firstly, we have to educate the people about the importance of the forest. By means of a forestation and reforestation, we can preserve it. The people who clear the jungle for agriculture and settlement should be discouraged to go to the jungle. By establishing many wild life reserves and national parks, we can preserve our forest. Selling of firewood and timber must be banned to preserve it .

Our forest should be preserved at any cost. The government as well s private sectors are expected to make and apply concrete plans to preserve it. It is said that preservation of the forests is our own preservation.

Essay on Tourism in Nepal.

Our country Nepal is rich in natural beauties gifts, resources and wonders. There are many places and things of cultural, historical and religious importance. Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world, lies in Nepal. We are proud of it. The snowcapped mountain peaks, beautiful water resources, the green forests of hypnotic beauty, flora and fauna, etc. tempt many tourists every year.

Nepal is known as a suitable place to promote tourism. The nature has given us many things which are liked by tourists. Some tourists come here to enjoy the natural beauties and wonders. Some of them visit our country for trekking and climbing mountains. Some want to learn something about our history, culture, religion and so on. We can see that some tourists come here to enjoy their holidays.

Tourism plays a significant role in Nepal. We can get many advantages from it. Firstly, we can earn foreign currency which can be use for our development. Many people have got employed in the offices belonging to tourism. Thus, it helps to lessen the problems of unemployment. Tourists buy our goods, curios and native articles of our country. By the result, our cottage industries can get benefited. Tourism helps our hotel industry. They want to live in good hotels. Many expensive and good hotels have been providing services to them. Similarly, many tourist guides and porters are employed in it.

We can learn their languages, cultures and traditions from the tourists. They also learn many things from us. The fame and glory of our nation get widened because they can be their achievements to their friends and relatives. Our country Nepal will be known to the rest part of the world. When they observe our good cultures, traditions and things, they expose them to their country.

There are a few disadvantages of tourism. Some of the communicable diseases can be spread by tourists; it is the worst effect of it. Because of tourism, some of the beauty spots are getting polluted. We can see many bottles, plastic bags and others even at the highest peak, Mt. Everest. Some of the tourists can be criminal. They can commit crimes here.

There are some problems in the field of tourism in Nepal. The major problems are transportation and security. Most of the beauty spots are situated in remote areas. We have not built roads to go to all these places yet. We have to depend on only air services. Similarly, the problem of security has reduced the number of the tourists. There are not standard hotels in the remote areas. We have to provide all eh facilities to the tourists to promote tourism in Nepal.

We have to try to promote tourism in Nepal. All the sectors concerned are expected to give high priority to promote it. The government should provide transportation facilities and security to the tourists. Then, more and more tourists will be tempted to visit our motherland.

Essay on The Himalayas/The Mountains in Nepal.

Nepal is a mountainous country. She is known as the land of the Himalayas. The Himalayas situated in the northern part of the country must have uplifted the identity and dignity of her.

The high mountains in Nepal are covered with snow; but the lower parts of them are covered with grass and plants. Many people live in mountains. Most of the fertile lands are cultivated. The mountains are not densely populated. Life of the people is difficult there. Most of the people are framers. Higher mountains are also used to graze the cattle such as cows, yaks, goats and sheep. The now-capped mountain peaks tempt many foreign tourists. They seem to be attractive but they are getting polluted nowadays. The main attractions of tourism in Nepal are these lofty mountains.

These heavenly mountains attributing angelic beauty in Nepal play a cosmic role to the enhancement of tourism. Our tourism trade depends on them. Many tourists eagerly visit Nepal to watch the mountains. Some of them come here to climb the snowy mountains; especially they climb Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. Many rare herbs are found in the Himalayan regions of Nepal. We can use them directly s the medicine or they can be used to make important medicines. If we export them to foreign countries, we can earn foreign currency. The snow-capped mountains are the origins of the rivers in Nepal. Therefore, mountains are the permanent sources of water. The climate and environment are completely fresh and healthy in the mountains. That’s why the inhabitants of the mountain regions are always vigorous and robust.

We can have some disadvantages from mountains. They are one of the hindrances to the development of the country. The fertility of the land is not rich in the mountains. The farmers are under the poverty line. Roads are the basic requirements of any other development programmers. But road making in mountains proves to be very slow and expensive. The life style of the people is very difficult. Many natural disasters such as landslides, over flood and soil erosion affect the people badly. The main problem in the mountains is lack of good transportation and communication.

Nowadays, the life style of the people in the mountains is getting uplifted because the problem of transportation and communication has been lessened. Most of the people have started growing vegetables and fruits which prove to be more advantageous than traditional farming. If the mountain regions are properly developed, the status of the country certainly gets uplifted.

It is said that the development of the mountains in Nepal supports the development of the whole country. Unique prosperity of the nation can be achieved if all the mountain regions are apply and amply developed to foster the people’s life style and status. The government and all sectors concerned and expected to play the prime role to alleviate the misery of the inhabitants of the mountain regions.

They are fishes, crabs dolphins, etc. similarly amphibians refer to the animals such as alligators, tortoises, frogs, etc. thus the animals are categorized as terrestrial, arboreal, aerial, aquatic and amphibian according to the place where they inhabit naturally.
The animals can also be categorized on the basis of what they eat. The animals which feed on (live on) grass and plants are called herbivorous animals. They are goats, cows, buffaloes, sheep and so on. The animals that feed on only flesh of other animals and birds fall under the category of carnivorous. They are tigers, lions, foxes, etc. the animals that live on both plants and flesh of other animals are known as omnivorous.
Nowadays, most of the wild animals are declining. Some of the animals are endangered. An animal survive if its habitat is destroyed. The jungle, the living place of the wild animals, is fast being destroyed because of different activities of human beings. People clear the jungle for agriculture and settlement. They cut down the tress for firewood, timber and building materials. Furthermore, people kill the wild animals for various purposes indifferently and mercilessly. The main cause of their disappearance is uncontrolled and over-population growth. We can preserve wild animals by preserving the forest, running afforestation programmes, opening wildlife reserves and national parks and making strict rules to prohibit the hunting of the wild animals and birds.
Wild animals absolutely prove to be advantageous for us. Firstly, to preserve them, we have to preserve the jungle. If we preserve the jungle, the natural calamities such as flood, landslides, desertification, and soil erosion etc. can be reduced. We can preserve other natural resources, too. Similarly, we can lure foreign tourists if we provide them opportunities to see the wild animals. By the result, we can earn foreign currency from them. Our ecology and environment can be kept in balance by preserving wild animals.
Some people claim that wild animals harm and interface us in many ways. They say that our domestic animals are killed and eaten by carnivorous wild animals. Some animals such as deer, elephants, etc. destroy our crops and vegetables. Some of the wild animals are dangerous for human beings, too. But this opinion in not appreciable.

It can be said that preservation of the wild animals is our own preservation. Therefore, we are obliged to preserve them at any cost. All the sectors concerned are responsible to preserve the wild animals and birds in order to preserve the ecology and environment.
